The 10th Baku International Book Fair, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, continues at the Baku Expo Center.
As part of the fair, the book Special Task by the distinguished Kazakh writer and public figure Kemel Tokayev (1923-1986), translated into Azerbaijani and published by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation (TCHF), was presented on October 2. Speaking at the event, TCHF President Aktotı Raimkulova noted that the peace-advocating book "Special Task" has been included in the "Pearls of Turkic Literature"series. She noted that Kemel Tokayev, a pioneer of the detective genre in Kazakh literature, made great contributions to the development of Turkic culture and literary art. In addition to his writing career, he also worked as a journalist, addressing important cultural and social issues related to Kazakhstan. The Foundation's publication aims to promote the study of the rich heritage of the outstanding writer.
"We hope that this publication will serve as a valuable resource for generations to come," she said. Malik Otarbayev, Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan, mentioned that Kemel Tokayev relied on archival information and trustworthy sources for all his works: “Today is also the birthday of Kemel Tokayev, a famous writer in the Turkic world. The presentation of his publication at the Baku International Book Fair on this day has a special meaning." The chairman of the Union of Azerbaijan Writers (UAW), the people's writer Anar, expressed his deep affection for Kazakhstan and said that he had written an article about the outstanding writer Abay. He also expressed his respect for the creative work of Kemel Tokayev. People's writer Chingiz Abdullayev, the first secretary of the UAW, highly appreciated the importance of publishing the book "Special Task" in Azerbaijani language.
Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of ANAS, Academician Nizami Jafarov, Director of the Atatürk Centre in Azerbaijan, and Fazil Mustafa, Chairman of the Committee on Public Associations and Religious Institutions of the Milli Majlis, spoke about the book and its author. They emphasized that it will introduce the creative work of Kemel Tokayev to local readers. The project leader and author of the foreword to the book is Aktoti Raimkulova, President of TCHF; the translation was done by Rabiga Nazimgizi; and the editor is Akbar Goshali.
