A panel discussion on New Azerbaijani Storytelling and Novel Writing was held on November 2 as part of the 41st Istanbul International Book Fair, where Azerbaijan is the "Guest of Honor.".
The speakers included Azerbaijani writers Agshin Yenisey, Narmin Kamal, Javid Zeynalli, and Ulvi Babasoy. The panel discussed the development of Azerbaijani prose and the tradition of realism in our literature. In addition, the issues of Karabakh and the relationship between writers and readers are also at the center of New Azerbaijani prose.
The authors responded to the questions of the readers.
On the same day, the Turkish translation of the book "The Great Azerbaijani Poet Nizami," by the distinguished Russian orientalist Yevgeny Bertels, was presented. The translation and publication were carried out as part of a project by the Azerbaijan Cultural Center (ACC) at our embassy in Türkiye.
Samir Abbasov, Director of ACC, spoke about the Center's initiatives for the promotion of our literature and culture and emphasized the importance of this book on the life and works of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi. He mentioned that the research was translated into Turkish by Imdat Avsar, the editor-in-chief of "Turkish Literature" magazine in Turkey and a friend of our literature.
Poet and researcher Farid Huseyn, translator Imdat Avsar, and others gave speeches and considered the book an important contribution to systematic studies.
This book by Yevgeny Bertels (1890–1957), who was a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and a laureate of the USSR State Prize, was published in Baku in 1940. The researcher also studied the works of other prominent Eastern poets such as Alishir Navai, Sadi Shirazi, Abdurrahman Jami, and Abulgasim Firdovsi.

A panel discussion on Publishing Culture in Azerbaijan took place at our stand on November 2. Publishers Shamil Sadig, Nurman Tarig, Rafig Ismayilov, and others discussed the current state of the book industry in our country and outlined the tasks for its development.
On the same day, the signing of the books Absurd Menu (in Turkish) by the writer Ravan Javid and History of the Future (in Turkish) by the essayist and literary critic Gismat Rustamov took place at our stand.
The Istanbul Fair will conclude on November 10.
