Adil Karimli Meets with the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Iran
On November 21, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, met with the delegation led by the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, who was visiting our country in connection with COP29.
Adil Karimli welcomed the delegation and thanked his Iranian counterpart for attending the prestigious event hosted by Azerbaijan. He noted the potential for extensive cultural cooperation between the two countries, particularly in libraries, museums, exhibitions, and cinematography, as well as through mutual participation in traditional music festivals and competitions. There are also opportunities to strengthen cooperation at the level of international organizations. The importance of jointly preparing nomination files for UNESCO's cultural heritage lists and coordinating efforts against the illegal circulation of cultural property was highlighted.
Minister Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri expressed his satisfaction with the participation in COP29 and thanked for the meeting. He underlined their interest in mutually beneficial cooperation and stressed the need to continue efforts to strengthen relations in various fields.
The Iranian minister stressed the need for public-private partnerships in the protection of cultural heritage. He suggested that the two countries could exchange experiences in this field and suggested the possibility of jointly restoring the Khudafarin bridges over the Araz River.
The discussion covered cultural heritage and environmental issues in the context of COP29, as well as an exchange of views on other areas of mutual interest.
At the end of the meeting, Adil Karimli presented the minister with a commemorative gift.
