In his speech, Orkhan Fikretoghlu, Honorary Artist and Acting Director of the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, highlighted the role of festivals: "The Baku International Film Festival is the longest running film festival in Azerbaijan. We welcome all festivals that support the development of cinematography. We are happy to be at the opening ceremony of this 15-year-old festival, one of such successful projects. I thank everyone who has contributed to the tradition of this festival and wish the participants success."
In keeping with the festival tradition, he presented People's artists Hamida Omarova and Shukufa Yusupova with the "Golden Nar" award for their contributions to Azerbaijani cinema. Afterwards, the jury members of the festival were invited to the stage.
