In honor of the 112th anniversary of the birth of Niyazi, the People's Artist of Azerbaijan and the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor, and State Prize laureate, an event was organized in the house-museum of the artist on August 20.
Jahangir Salimkhanov, advisor to the Minister of Culture, employees of the State Museum of Music Culture of Azerbaijan and its branch, the House Museum, and others took part in the event.
The guests were first introduced to the exhibition "Niyazi: 112" in the lobby of the museum.
A video of national leader Heydar Aliyev's reflections on Maestro Niyazi was shown at the event.
Honored cultural worker Rza Bayramov, director of Niyazi's House Museum, spoke about the unique contributions of the unforgettable artist to the enrichment and promotion of Azerbaijani musical culture. He mentioned that the museum is rich with exhibits: "The museum has an extensive collection that provides an insight into Niyazi's life and creative work. Photographs, personal items, and his handwritten compositions from different periods are preserved in the museum."
People's Artist Azer Dadashov, a professor at the Baku Music Academy named after U. Hajibeyli, shared his memories of Niyazi and played a fragment of the cantata "Sumgayit" and the song "Golden" on the piano. He also donated a book written by him to the museum.
Other speakers also spoke about Niyazi's life and work.
It was noted that Niyazi contributed significantly to the development of national symphonic music by creating symphonic works with rich and comprehensive content in Azerbaijani music. His opera "Khosrov and Shirin," symphonic mugham "Rast," ballet "Chitra," and many other works are invaluable treasures of our musical tradition.
At the event, a video was shown in which famous musicians remembered Niyazi.
Each performance was accompanied by a slide show of the collections of the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that on the occasion of the unforgettable artist's birthday (August 20), an "open door" event was announced in the apartment museum.
