On July 26, the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, had a meeting with Nikola Selakovic, the Minister of Culture of Serbia and a co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the two countries. Selakovic is visiting our country for the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.
Adil Karimli welcomed the guest and remarked that the relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia were comprehensively developing based on the sincere friendship and mutual trust of both countries. He noted the extensive prospects for cultural ties between the two nations. Additionally, there is a legal framework for cooperation in the cultural field, established by an agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and Serbia signed in 2011.
Minister Nikola Selakovich thanked for the warm welcome and praised the meeting of the intergovernmental commission held on July 25.
During the conversation, the format of extensive cooperation in various cultural areas was discussed. It was pointed out that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in our country in November, will include discussions on the impact of climate change on culture and the role of culture in environmental protection. Serbia's participation in COP29 was welcomed with great pleasure.
Nicola Selakovich, on his part, invited the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Serbia.
