As part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, a bilateral meeting took place on November 16 between Minister of Culture Adil Karimli and Director General of ICOM Medea Ekner.
The minister welcomed the guest and thanked her for attending the prestigious COP29 event.
It was noted that Azerbaijan places great importance on the activities of museums that safeguard historical and cultural heritage. The leading museums of Azerbaijan align their activities with modern standards and value collaboration with the famous museums of the world, and ICOM.
The head of ICOM provided information about the organization and spoke about the various events and projects implemented by the organization.
Medea Ekner highly appreciated the cooperation of Azerbaijani museums with the Council and noted the active participation of the national committee in the work of the institution.
The discussion covered the involvement of Azerbaijani museums in ICOM projects and the representation of Azerbaijan at the organization’s General Conference in Dubai, UAE, in 2025.
At the end of the meeting, the guest was presented with a gift.
