Baku is hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) from November 11 to 22. As part of this session, on November 15, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli met with Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.
Adil Karimli greeted the guest and expressed his pleasure with the participation of the brotherly Republic of Turkey in this prestigious event.
The minister noted that successful cooperation has been established between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in all spheres of culture and emphasized the potential for further development of these relations.
He emphasized that Azerbaijan's participation in the 41st International Book Fair, which was held in Istanbul from November 2 to 10, as an "honorary guest country" for the first time is a testimony to the high level of relations between the two countries.
The minister thanked his Turkish counterpart for the warm hospitality shown to the Azerbaijani delegation during the fair.
The Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, extended congratulations on November 8—Victory Day—and underlined the successful and high-level hosting of the COP29 event by our country. He mentioned that if Turkey hosts COP31, Azerbaijan's experience in this field would be studied.
The guest minister stressed the importance of addressing environmental and cultural issues within the framework of COP29.
The discussion touched upon potential areas of cooperation between the two countries, with a special focus on archaeological heritage and cinema. In particular, the planned production of Molla Nasreddin, under the organization of TURKSOY, and the feature film Friend of Difficult Days were mentioned.
During the meeting, various other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, commemorative gifts were presented to the Turkish minister.
Later, the ministers visited the pavilions of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan at the venue of the event.
The Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, joined them in the introduction of the pavilions of Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
