On November 12, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli had a bilateral meeting with Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova, who is visiting our country in connection with COP29.
Adil Karimli welcomed the minister and thanked her for taking part in this prestigious event in our country.
The minister expressed appreciation for the cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Russia and pointed out the recent strengthening of collaboration in this field. He noted that mutual artistic tours, exchange of experience in art education, and regular participation in exhibitions, competitions, and festivals provide a full picture of our relations.
The Minister of Culture of Russia, Olga Lyubimova, noted that Azerbaijan hosted the prestigious COP29 event at a high level and expressed her pleasure to be in Baku for this occasion. She also spoke highly of the future prospects for cultural relations between the two countries.
Adil Karimli provided information on the COP29 agenda related to cultural and environmental issues. He mentioned that the second High-Level Meeting of Ministers of Culture on Culture-Based Climate Action would take place as part of the event. The meeting aims to build international consensus on integrating arts and cultural heritage into the climate change agenda.
A session focusing on the Culture for Climate (C4C) initiative proposed by our country and the presentation of this initiative will be held under the organization of the Group of Friends of Culture-Based Climate Action and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The meeting also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
