The Ministry of Culture prepared an interesting artistic program to effectively organize leisure time for participants of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) and introduce the rich cultural heritage and art of Azerbaijan to the foreign guests.
On November 13, under the organization of the Ministry of Culture, a show composition entitled "Awakening" was presented at the Heydar Aliyev Palace.
A large audience, including officials from various countries attending the COP29 in Baku, watched the program presented by the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
‘Awakening’ is a sacred ritual that reconnects humanity with nature, urging people to consider the basic elements necessary for life. In our time, vital elements such as air, water, earth, and fire have become new sources of inspiration. Thus, this performance aims to awaken by connecting water with life, air with intellectual power, earth with mindful existence, and fire with the light of civilization. Guided by the wisdom of priests traveling from ancient times to the present, humanity witnesses that each element contains a work of art related to nature.
The carpet image in the show composition is created by countless knots, symbolizing the beauty of unity achieved through the collective will of people. The pure-hearted princess of the Maiden Tower, once imprisoned by human limitations, breaks free from the stones that hide her, reminding us all to "be human" and inspiring us with her beauty, purity, and fragility.
To be human is to accept our fragility, but that does not mean we should retreat from the stage of life. Let us remember that life, like beauty, ceases to exist if it is not cared for or honored. Thus, the awakening offered to humanity to revitalize all things begins with the passion of dance and the exciting promise of spring as the herald of a new world...
The show composition, featuring Azerbaijani artists and foreign masters, is directed and written by Francesco Bondi. Honored Artist Ayyub Guliyev, chief conductor of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, is the music director, while choirmaster is Honored Art Worker Sevil Hajiyeva.
