On October 8-11
, the III Korkut Ata Film Festival of the Turkic World will be held in Baku and Shusha cities of Azerbaijan.The festival is being co-organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Heydar Aliyev Center, TURKSOY, the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Baku Media Center.
The festival aims to develop the unity of the Turkic world and cultural cooperation among the Turkic peoples and contribute to the integration of the Turkic peoples into a joint audiovisual space created with the participation of the Turkic states. The first of the festivals that have been organized since 2021 was held in Istanbul city of brotherly Türkiye, and the second one in Bursa last year.
In addition to the films from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan, 32 feature, documentary, and animation films were presented by Gagauzia-Yeri (Moldova), Tatarstan, Sakha-Yakutia, Dagestan (Nogai), Kabardino-Balkaria, Chuvashia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Tuva, and Bashkortostan (Russian Federation) in the festival organized for the third time. The films will be screened at Nizami Cinema Center from October 9 to 11.
In addition to well-known artists of the Turkic world, officials also visited the festival. In total, more than 100 guests, consisting of cinematographers of the Turkic peoples, are participating in the film festival.
One of the main features of the film festival is a summit held in Baku and the organization of a familiarization trip of renowned cinematographers from the Turkic states to the city of Shusha, which was declared the "Cultural Capital of the Turkic World" for 2023 by TURKSOY.
An event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Kyrgyz theater and film actress, People's Artist of the USSR Baken Kidekeyeva (1923-1993) will be held within the framework of the festival on October 10. The anniversary event was organized by the Kyrgyz delegation and TURKSOY.
The official opening and closing ceremonies of the III Korkut Ata Film Festival of the Turkic World will be held at the Heydar Aliyev Center on October 8 and 11, respectively.
