Theater forum "Azerbaijan theater—150: development prospects" will take place on April 10–11, 2023, under the joint organization of the Ministry of Culture and the Heydar Aliyev Center, with the participation of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, as part of the 100th-anniversary events honoring national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The Heydar Aliyev Center will host the official opening ceremony of the forum on April 10.
The event will feature a video presentation that illustrates the 150-year history of Azerbaijan's professional national theater. Later, the forum will proceed with panel discussions around topics such as "Traditions and trends in the Azerbaijani theater", "Modern acting school in the national theater: a systematic approach in the renewal process", "Conception and strategic goals" and "Development of human capital in the field of theater".
The event's program includes speeches from Grigory Zaslavsky, an Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation and Rector of the Russian Theater Art Institute (GITIS), and Elshan Mammadov, a producer and head of the department of the Russian Theater Art Institute (GITIS).
The proposals collected from the exchange of ideas and discussions during the forum will be taken into account in the action plan developed for the State Strategy of Azerbaijani Culture for 2020–2040.
The forum is to be attended by well-known theater figures, directors, and actors from across the country, management and creative teams of theaters operating in the capital and regions, representatives of folk and independent theaters, as well as educators and students from the University of Culture and Arts.
