The First "Baku Cinema Breeze" International Film Festival to be Held in Azerbaijan

With the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cinema Agency, the first international film festival, "Baku Cinema Breeze," will be held in Baku from October 2 to 8.

"Baku Cinema Breeze" will serve as a single platform to present the masterpieces of world cinema by bringing together major events such as the DokuBaku International Documentary Film Festival, the BIFF Baku International Film Festival, the ATA Turkic World International Animation Film Festival, and the ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival, which were previously organized separately.

The OMA Cinema Market, dedicated to the film industry of East and Central Asian countries, will be held as part of the festival.

During the event, participants will be able to network and discuss future cooperation opportunities. It will be an important step for the development of the local film industry.

The "Baku Cinema Breeze" festival in Azerbaijan will also bring together representatives of the film industry from the USA, Canada, India, the Netherlands, Turkey, Germany, Portugal, the UAE, Greece, Korea, Georgia, Estonia, and other countries, as well as well-known figures of world cinematography.

During the festival, screenings will be organized for residents of the capital, guests of our city, and all film lovers in various cinemas and venues of the city.

This event, aimed at the development of the audiovisual industry, will be a part of the project "Creative Azerbaijan" of the Ministry of Culture.

Azerbaijan Represented at the 37th Moscow International Book FairThe 37th Moscow International Book Fair started in Moscow, Russian Federation, on September 4, 2024. State Service and Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Sign Memorandum of UnderstandingThe Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Protection and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments Located in the Territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was signed between the State Service for Cultural Heritage Conservation, Development, and Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Culture and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. Our Composers' New Works Added to Music and Art School CurriculaStarting from the academic year 2024/2025, the curricula of music and art schools will include compositions of modern local composers. President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited Khudavang Monastery Complex in KalbajarOn September 2, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Khudavang Monastery Complex in the Kalbajar district. Children's Creativity Center Named After Kurmangazy in Fuzuli Welcomes First StudentsStarting from the academic year 2024/2025, the Children's Creativity Center named after Kurmangazy in Fuzuli will offer continuous education in various fields of art. "Simurg" Ensemble from Azerbaijan Wins Grand Prix at the 13th Sharq Taronalari Festival in UzbekistanThe Grand Prix of the 13th Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from August 26–30, was awarded to the “Simurg“ mugham ensemble from Azerbaijan. Results of Teacher Recruitment Competition for Music and Art Schools AnnouncedThe final results of the teacher recruitment competition for music and art schools and centers under the Ministry of Culture have been announced. After the interviews, 237 candidates were successful, and 123 of them were selected to be appointed as teachers. Maestro Niyazi’s Memory Honored in the Alley of HonorAugust 20 was the 112th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous conductor and composer, People's Artist of Azerbaijan and the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor, and receiver of state awards, Niyazi (Niyazi Tagızadeh-Hajibeyov; 1912–1984). On this occasion, Jahangir Salimkhanov, adviser to the Minister of Culture, employees from both the State Museum of Music Culture and the Niyazi’s House Museum operating under it, as well as notable cultural figures, gathered at the Alley of Honor to lay flowers at the maestro's grave. During the memorial ceremony, the significant contributions of the outstanding artist to the development of Azerbaijani musical culture were recognized. It was stated that Niyazi is considered a national treasure by the Azerbaijani people, and his name is always spoken of with great respect. Appeals for Music and Art School Admissions ReviewedAs an important part of the reforms implemented by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of cultural education, the process of admission of students to music and art schools and centers under the Ministry for the 2024–2025 academic year was conducted electronically for the first time. Between May 6 and 31 of this year, applications for admission were registered through the single personal account “my.culture.az,“ and entrance examinations were conducted on-site in a centralized manner from June 20 to 30. Based on the results of the exams, students were automatically assigned to schools and fields of study by an electronic system according to the admission plans for free and paid education, taking into account the candidates' scores and the age limit. Citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan over the age of 15 who wish to develop their creative potential and engage in various CCI and cultural activities, who have been accepted to foreign higher education institutions or are studying at their own expense, may apply for the scholarship program to finance their education. Persons who have studied more than half of the standard period of education at the bachelor's or master's level in higher educational institutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan under state order or at state expense, as well as those who have completed their bachelor's or master's education in foreign institutions within the framework of state programs and international agreements (interstate scholarship programs) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, are not eligible to apply as candidates for the same level of education. Fuzuli Summer School Launches with an Opening CeremonyThe opening ceremony of the “Summer School in Fuzuli“ project took place on August 15 at the Children's Creative Center named after Kurmangazy in Fuzuli. National Cinema Day Celebrated with Ceremony The 126th anniversary of cinema in Azerbaijan was celebrated on August 2. This important date dates back to August 2, 1898, when the first films were publicly screened in Baku. According to the order signed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev on December 18, 2000, August 2 was declared the “National Cinema Day“ of Azerbaijan. On this remarkable day, a solemn event took place at the Nizami Cinema Center under the organization of the Ministry of Culture.
