Four more elements related to the intangible cultural heritage of Azerbaijan included in the UNESCO list
At the 18th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Kasane, Botswana, on November 4-9, four more elements related to the intangible cultural heritage of Azerbaijan were included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
It should be noted that among the nominations submitted to the Representative List are the multinational files "Craftsmanship and performing art of balaban/mey " presented jointly by Azerbaijan and Turkiye, as well as "Art of Tazhib" developed with the participation of our country (Azerbaijan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkiye and Uzbekistan), "Iftar and its socio cultural traditions" (Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkiye and Uzbekistan) and " Mother of pearl inlay" (Azerbaijan and Turkiye).
The decision on the nomination files, which received a positive opinion on all criteria from UNESCO's Evaluation Body, was announced on December 6.
Ambassador Elman Abdullayev, Permanent Representative of our country to UNESCO, speaking at the session, thanked the UNESCO Evaluation Body and the Intergovernmental Committee on behalf of the Republic of Azerbaijan for supporting the examples of cultural values of our people. The permanent representative also expressed his gratitude to the countries involved in the preparation of the files.
It should be noted that the above-mentioned nomination files were developed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, and the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, as well as the relevant institutions of the above-mentioned foreign countries.
Thus, the number of our elements included in UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage has reached 23.
