From September 26 to October 1, 2023, DokuBaku VII International Documentary Film Festival will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The DokuBaku festival has been held every year since 2017 with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the last two years. The program of the festival consists of 43 shows. During this period, more than 60 films will be screened in five categories: Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, DokuDarwin, No Main Competition, Out of Competition and DokuKids - films for children.

The winners in each category will be determined by an international jury of 20 experts, including renowned masters of the genre such as François Scullier, Nick Voight, Michael Graversen, Andrea Tsulkova, Emil Najafov and Fuad Shabanov. Festival awards will be given to the first place filmmakers in each category. This year, in addition to the existing "iHuman", "iCyborg", "NewEye" awards, the new "CosmoHuman" award will be presented.

It should be noted that the number of festival partners is increasing every year. Yanis Palavos, representative of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, and Justin Jackle, program developer of the Lisbon Documentary Film Festival, are participating in the festival held in Baku this year.

Azerbaijan Represented at the 37th Moscow International Book FairThe 37th Moscow International Book Fair started in Moscow, Russian Federation, on September 4, 2024. State Service and Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Sign Memorandum of UnderstandingThe Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Protection and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments Located in the Territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was signed between the State Service for Cultural Heritage Conservation, Development, and Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Culture and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. Our Composers' New Works Added to Music and Art School CurriculaStarting from the academic year 2024/2025, the curricula of music and art schools will include compositions of modern local composers. President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited Khudavang Monastery Complex in KalbajarOn September 2, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Khudavang Monastery Complex in the Kalbajar district. Children's Creativity Center Named After Kurmangazy in Fuzuli Welcomes First StudentsStarting from the academic year 2024/2025, the Children's Creativity Center named after Kurmangazy in Fuzuli will offer continuous education in various fields of art. As part of the “Great Return“ program, piano, accordion, tar, violin, and dance classes will be introduced in the new school year for children of residents who have returned to their homeland from Baku and other regions. "Simurg" Ensemble from Azerbaijan Wins Grand Prix at the 13th Sharq Taronalari Festival in UzbekistanThe Grand Prix of the 13th Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from August 26–30, was awarded to the “Simurg“ mugham ensemble from Azerbaijan. Maestro Niyazi’s Memory Honored in the Alley of HonorAugust 20 was the 112th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous conductor and composer, People's Artist of Azerbaijan and the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labor, and receiver of state awards, Niyazi (Niyazi Tagızadeh-Hajibeyov; 1912–1984). On this occasion, Jahangir Salimkhanov, adviser to the Minister of Culture, employees from both the State Museum of Music Culture and the Niyazi’s House Museum operating under it, as well as notable cultural figures, gathered at the Alley of Honor to lay flowers at the maestro's grave. Fuzuli Summer School Launches with an Opening CeremonyThe opening ceremony of the “Summer School in Fuzuli“ project took place on August 15 at the Children's Creative Center named after Kurmangazy in Fuzuli. National Cinema Day Celebrated with Ceremony The 126th anniversary of cinema in Azerbaijan was celebrated on August 2. This important date dates back to August 2, 1898, when the first films were publicly screened in Baku. According to the order signed by the national leader Heydar Aliyev on December 18, 2000, August 2 was declared the “National Cinema Day“ of Azerbaijan.
