The Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARKA), under the Ministry of Culture, announced a competition for film projects on July 18 this year. The aim is to support the development of the cinematographic field, promote cinematographic activities, enrich the experience of local filmmakers, facilitate the creation of films that promote national, moral, and universal values, and support the private sector involved in this field.

The competition accepts projects in various categories, such as films, commercial films, author (art) films, debut films, and student films, to be produced through state orders by independent production centers and other legal entities engaged in cinematography. The deadline for project submissions was set for September 15, 2023.

However, taking into account that the competition of this scale is being held for the first time in the country, that participants need time to prepare high-quality film projects, and the importance of involving more legal and physical entities in film activities in terms of the development of the national film industry, the deadline for the first stage of the competition (project submissions) has been extended to October 1, 2023.

The decision was made on September 18, 2023 at the 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. According to the nomination prepared by the State Tourism Agency, the World Heritage Area covers the surrounding grasslands used by the local population (Guba and Gusar) including the Khinalig village and the wintering areas of the Central Aran region (Absheron and Hajigabul), as well as the length of more than 200 km of historical migration route (Guba-Shamakhi-Qobustan) between them. The basis of the document submitted to UNESCO is the nomadic culture of Khinalig. On this occasion, on behalf of the staff of the Ministry of Culture and the film community of our country, we sincerely congratulate the artist, who has dedicated more than four decades of his life to the development of national cinematography, and wish him good health and many more happy years full of creative inspiration. Khamis Bakir oghlu Muradov was born on September 15, 1943, in the village of Qakhmughal, Gakh district. After graduating from Baku Secondary School No. 72, he continued his studies at the Azerbaijan State Art Institute named after M. Aliyev (now referred to as ADMIU), specializing in directing from 1962 to 1966. In 1966, he joined the “Azerbaijanfilm“ film studio named after Jafar Jabbarli. He worked as an assistant director in the films “Land, Sea, Fire, and Sky“ (1967) by renowned director Shamil Mahmudbeyov and “For the sake of the law“ (1968) by Mukhtar Dadashov. Forecasts suggest that by the close of the 21st century, around 4,000 of these languages may vanish. However, he expressed his conviction that the Azerbaijani language would not be among these endangered languages. On the contrary, he anticipates continuous growth and development for our language. Interviews for the recruitment of teachers for children's music, art, painting, mugham, and ashug schools and centers are about to beginIn order to raise the level of education in children's music, art, painting, mugham, and ashug schools and centers under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the recruitment of teachers is carried out through a competitive process. This ensures the selection and placement of competent and qualified professionals under conditions of equal opportunity, transparency, and fair competition. The competition consists of two stages, including a test and an interview. On July 16, 2023, the test was conducted jointly with the State Examination Center of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Out of the 1026 candidates who participated in the teacher recruitment test, 511 achieved the necessary passing score, thereby earning the opportunity to proceed to the interview stage of the competition. From September 5, the Ministry of Culture will start the interview phase of the competition to select teachers for children's music, art, painting, mugham, and ashug schools and centers. ANIMAFILM Festival brings an Oscar-winning director to AzerbaijanThe 6th edition of the traditional ANIMAFILM International Animation Festival for children and adults, organized by the Azerbaijan Animation Association will be held at the Nizami Cinema Center on September 6-10, 2023 with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
