The First International Congress on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development takes place in the Cuban capital, Havana. Our country was represented at the event by a delegation led by Sabina Hajiyeva, the head of the State Service of Cultural Heritage Conservation, Development, and Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Culture.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez received the guests on the first day of the event and highlighted the value the country places on cultural heritage, the initiatives it has undertaken, and wished success to the 2023 congress of the "G77+China" Group, which Cuba will chair for the first time.
As part of the congress, a meeting of the ministers of culture from the member countries of the UN "G77+China" Group was held.
During the "Culture for Sustainable Development" meeting, it was emphasized that our country, due to its geographical position between the East and the West, possesses a rich historical and cultural legacy, and plays an active role in promoting intercultural dialogue worldwide. The speech underlined the importance of the Baku Process, an initiative of our country, and the regular World Forums on Intercultural Dialogue held within its framework as a significant global platform.
